Jeff Hardy finally got a measure of retaliation on Randy Orton last week when he drove Orton’s body through a table with a massive Swanton Bomb off electrical equipment. The Charismatic Enigma arrived on the blue brand tonight claiming that he felt born again after pummeling The Viper one week earlier, and he was now intent on finishing what Orton had started. Hardy was eager for a confrontation with WWE’s Apex Predator, but Orton — averse to appeasing the WWE Universe — refused to give his foe the satisfaction.
Unphased by Orton’s mind games, Hardy made a bigger challenge to The Viper for the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event… inside Hell in a Cell itself! Hardy would have to wait for a response though, as Orton simply dropped his microphone and walked away without response.

After weeks of being the victim of physical and mental torment from Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy squared off against The Viper on SmackDown LIVE in a highly personal contest.
The two went at it with all the vigor and vitriol that one would expect after several weeks of wild brawls. The brutal battle saw Orton again viciously pull Hardy’s ear lobe, which led to an incensed Jeff stomping The Apex Predator below the belt. The Charismatic Enigma became absolutely unglued, continuing to assault Orton through the WWE Universe. Hardy beat Orton down with anything he could get his hands on, including a steel chair and a camera. Jeff then positioned Randy on a table in the tech area and made an incredible jump from the equipment crates, crushing Orton with a Swanton Bomb.
Advantage, finally, Hardy.

Jeff Hardy returned to action on SmackDown LIVE after weeks of being tormented by Randy Orton and his opponent at SummerSlam this Sunday, United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. However, Hardy had an equally difficult test on SmackDown LIVE, as he faced cagy veteran Shelton Benjamin.
Benjamin tried to prey on any ring rust and lingering injuries Hardy may’ve been harboring after his rough several months. However, The Charismatic Enigma battled through the pain and claimed the victory after drilling Shelton with the Twist of Fate.
Hardy’s celebration was cut short when Nakamura’s music began to blare. Nakamura attempted to put Hardy down with a Kinshasa, all while Orton watched behind the side of the stage. However, The Charismatic Enigma caught Nakamura with a Twist of Fate and then added extra emphasis with a Swanton Bomb, making it clear that he would not go quietly into the night this Sunday.

Promising to call out Randy Orton after the savage attacks The Viper has laid on him in recent weeks, Jeff Hardy did just that, not hesitating to dare The Apex Predator to come down and face him in the middle of the ring. Never one to back away from a threat, Orton began to make his way down to the squared circle, but before he could get there, The Charismatic Enigma was brutally blindsided by Shinsuke Nakamura, who dropped Jeff with a kick to the back of the head.
By the time Orton got into the ring, The King of Strong Style was setting up for the Kinshasa. However, Orton stepped in front of WWE’s Rockstar before he could land the move. Shinsuke and Randy exchanged glares, and Nakamura drilled Jeff with the Kinshasa before exiting the ring. Orton beat Hardy down with a ruthless onslaught of stomps, dropped him with two DDTs, the second onto the unforgiving floor at ringside. The Viper continued the assault, brutalizing Hardy on the announce table, pouring water on his face and methodically and symbolically wiping away Hardy’s face paint with a towel before he finally departed.
