Jeff Hardy had caught wind that Samoa Joe wanted to “apologize” to him after The Samoan Submission Machine repeatedly mocked The Charismatic Enigma for his troubled past over the last few weeks. Hardy demanded Joe come to the ring to issue his “apology” face-to-face. Samoa Joe hit the scene and spoke openly to Hardy, but not with an apology — with an attempted intervention! Joe mockingly expressed concern for Jeff until the former WWE Champion lashed back at Joe, wondering aloud if Joe is insecure because he hasn’t won a single championship in two years. A seething Joe instantly looked to strike after Jeff’s disrespect, but Hardy was ready for him, and he dropped Joe with a Twist of Fate that downed The Samoan Submission Machine and kept him silent … at least for now.

Two of SmackDown LIVE’s budding rivalries — Jeff Hardy and Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev — crossed paths on Tuesday in a tag team match that showcased the best of all four Superstars, plus a Dance Break from Carmella and R-Truth that actually came at the beginning of the match rather than the middle. It also provided an early glimpse at where those two rivalries stand. Samoa Joe, who has chosen to play mind games with Hardy, remained in almost complete control of The Charismatic Enigma, save for a last-ditch rally. Rusev, meanwhile, bulldozed Nakamura all over the ring, eventually dropping The King of Strong Style with a pinpoint Machka Kick for the 1-2-3.

In the wake of his 20th anniversary celebration last week, a reinvigorated Jeff Hardy reignited his rivalry against Randy Orton one week after The Viper unleashed a brutal assault on Rey Mysterio.

Just after Hardy dropped Orton with a back suplex on the announce table and ascended the ropes looking to crash down onto The Viper, Samoa Joe suddenly appeared on the TitanTron from a bar, callously mocking The Charismatic Enigma and keeping him distracted long enough for Orton to level his opponent with the RKO for the victory.

As Hardy recovered, Joe added insult to injury be mocking Hardy with a “public service announcement” on the dangers of drinking in excess.

Jeff Hardy celebrated his 20th anniversary as a WWE Superstar, joining Michael Cole for an in-ring ceremony and an incredible video package highlighting some of the most unforgettable moments of his awe-inspiring tenure with WWE. The former WWE Champion, who has admittedly experienced an emotional roller coaster of a career, was overwhelmed by the enormity of the moment, and he thanked the WWE Universe for their unwavering support over the years.

Samoa Joe interrupted and initially acted as though he had arrived to praise the daredevil. Soon enough, however, it became crystal clear that The Samoan Submission Machine was there to conjure all of Hardy’s prior demons. Shane McMahon tried to stop Joe’s tirade, but Jeff wanted Joe to speak his mind. Joe spoke his mind indeed, stating that Hardy’s problems and mistakes are always lurking behind him, but he callously promised to lend a helping hand with a one-step program that is quick – but definitely not painless — if Jeff ever again feels himself becoming powerless.

An empowered Jeff challenged Joe to a fight on the spot, but The Samoan Submission Machine would have none of it, and he walked away while Hardy seemed unphased by the outspoken Samoan’s harsh words.

Jeff Hardy and Andrade “Cien” Almas pushed each other to their limits in a highly memorable matchup on SmackDown LIVE, and Almas nearly scored an upset over the former WWE Champion, but The Charismatic Enigma finished Almas off with a ring-rattling Swanton Bomb.

The win proved to be extra beneficial for Hardy, as Paige ruled that Daniel Bryan could no longer be on the SmackDown Men’s Survivor Series Team since he would be challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Title tonight. The Miz, who was left as the blue brand’s sole captain, immediately selected The Charismatic Enigma as the newest member of Team Blue.
