Curtis Axel: Woken Warrior? The former Intercontinental Champion earned the latest in a string of shocking victories for the dark-horse tandem when he toppled one-half of the reigning Raw Tag Team Champions, “Woken” Matt Hardy, in advance of the two teams’ title clash at Extreme Rules.

Literally. Axel earned his victory by reversing a superplex into a crossbody and pinned the stunned Woken One in surprisingly short order. And while it seemed as though a combination of Hardy’s loss and another B-Team cosplay of the champions was going to provoke The Deleters of Worlds into a fight, the titleholders instead offered The B-Team a “Woken O.” Hardy also said the win was a “fluke,” though given B-Team’s recent success, it could well be a harbinger. Three weeks until we find out.

Whether The B-Team can match up to “Woken” Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt in the ring remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt they see themselves on the same level as the Raw Tag Team Champions in all facets of the game.

Before the bell rang on Hardy & Wyatt’s bout with Heath Slater & Rhyno, Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel appeared on the TitanTron in Deleters cosplay to do their best impression of the Raw Tag Team Champions’ mind-bending messages from beyond. It was a valiant effort, but the champions didn’t exactly suffer a taste of their own medicine: The Deleters dispatched Slater & Rhyno with a Kiss of Deletion to The One Man Band in a display of their continued dominance and perhaps delivered a message to their challengers that a Party City beard and Sweeney Todd wig do not Woken Warriors make.

After exchanging verbal blows over social media this past weekend with United States Champion Jeff Hardy, Shinsuke Nakamura took exception to The Charismatic Enigma suggesting that AJ Styles would defeat him in the WWE Championship Last Man Standing Match this Sunday at WWE Money in the Bank. Because of all this, the two Superstars collided for the first time ever on the blue brand.

Nakamura attempted to keep Hardy grounded with his aggressive strong style approach, but The Charismatic Enigma weathered Shinsuke’s best efforts and even stopped a Kinshasa attempt from Nakamura and connected with a Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb. It seemed Hardy was on the verge of victory, but when he couldn’t capitalize immediately on the Swanton due to nagging pain in his back, Nakamura was able to get his foot on the rope to break the count. From there, Hardy tried to seal the deal by connecting with a second Twist of Fate, but with The Artist beginning to feel desperate, he countered the attempt by delivering a savage low blow blatantly in front of the referee for an immediate disqualification.

Seemingly unconcerned with the defeat after using a move that will be legal on Sunday, Nakamura then delivered a ring-rattling Kinshasa to knock him out cold. Shinsuke then proceeded to count to 10, sending one last message to The Phenomenal One: He, much like Styles, firmly believed he would be the last man standing.

As The B-Team continue their long-shot quest to challenge for the Raw Tag Team Titles, the champions themselves held firm in a battle against The Ascension. Despite the larger Konnor using his size against “Woken” Matt Hardy, Bray Wyatt turned the tide against Viktor, and after Konnor was dispatched with a Twist of Fate, the champions sealed the win with a Kiss of Deletion.

The B-Team were watching, as it turns out, but despite a pair of victories, Raw General Manager Kurt Angle was hesitant to allow them to jump the line and challenge The Deleters of Worlds. That said, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel quickly concocted a plan to win the approval of Raw’s remaining tandems: A Memorial Day Barbeque. Unfortunately, while the division was more than happy to feast on B-Team brats, they weren’t sold on allowing Dallas & Axel to challenge for the titles. But the ensuing food fight did give Angle an idea about how to settle the debate: A Tag Team Battle Royal next week, where the winners would face Hardy & Wyatt for the titles.
