No Mercy
Ladder Match
On October 17, 1999, Matt and Jeff Hardy took on Edge and Christian in the fifth and final match of the Terri Invitational Tournament. Pre-match stipulations stated that the winner of this match took home both $100, 000 and the services of the lovely Terri.
The match itself was voted “Match of the Year” by WWF.com voters. In the end, Jeff was able to climb the 15 foot ladder and grab the bag full of money, thus guaranteeing the victory for the Hardy Boyz.
After the match and on the following night’s RAW, fans in attendance gave all four competitors a heart wrenching standing ovation.
Royal Rumble
Table Match
Today, Tag Team Table Matches are a common occurrence. However, prior to the 2000 Royal Rumble, this type of match never existed. Needless to say, this match between the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz set the trend for tag team competition in the new millennium.
The match itself was highlighted by several high spots including Jeff Hardy executing the highly popular Swanton Bomb off of the entrance way of Madison Square Garden.
In the end, it was Matt and Jeff coming out on top when they put both Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley through tables.
WrestleMania
Table Match
As boys, Matt and Jeff Hardy dreamed of being World Wrestling Federation Superstars. The two youngsters did everything they could to prepare themselves for WWF careers. However, nothing could have prepared them for WrestleMania. On the biggest stage of all, Matt and Jeff battled the Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian for the Tag Team Championship.
Fans went onto WrestleMania with high expectations. And all three teams delivered. The match stole the show.
Unfortunately for Matt and Jeff, this was not their night. However, their daredevil moves made them winners in the minds of the fans.
SummerSlam
TLC Match
The Hardys home state of North Carolina played host to SummerSlam 2000 and the breathtaking Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match — featuring Matt and Jeff Hardy vs. the Dudley Boyz vs. Edge and Christian.
Never before has so much action taken place in one WWF ring. Among many of the exciting highlights were Matt launching Christian onto his own tag team partner, thus creating a ladder sandwich and Jeff executing the Swanton Bomb off of a 20 foot ladder.
Unfortunately for the Hardys, they wound up on the short end of the stick this night. However, their desire and level of competition was never in question.
Unforgiven
Cage Match
Over one year had passed since the Hardy Boyz lost the Tag Team Championship to the Acolytes. Matt and Jeff tried numerous times to regain the gold they once held, but fell just short every time. That is until Sept. 24, 2000, when they defeated Edge and Christian in a steel cage match at Unforgiven.
At the time, the two teams were engaged in a bitter rivalry. Unforgiven was just another chapter in the exciting book of Matt and Jeff vs. Edge and Christian.
In the end, it was Matt and Jeff proving their superiority over Edge and Christian and capturing the Tag Team Championship.
